K-9 Spotlight
Waterbury Police
Department

The Waterbury Police
Department K-9 teams are
another "tool" of the patrol division in its daily duties protecting it's citizens.
Waterbury currently has six Patrol K-9 Teams and one Narcotic Detector K-9 Team.
All six patrol teams are also certified in narcotic detection. Each team has completed an intensive training course and has attained a level of
certification by both the Connecticut Police Work Dog Association (CPWDA) and the North American Police Work Dog Association
(NAPWDA).
Our K-9 teams are being utilized by all
divisions of the police department and are frequently requested and used by other
law enforcement agencies to assist them as needed.
Our in-service training is a
continuous process and other law enforcement agencies' K-9 teams are invited and welcome.
The primary trainer for our teams is Officer William Scribner, assisted by Officers Frank Holland and Bill Nott. We wish to extend our gratitude to these individuals for their unselfish giving of their time and knowledge to elevate our program to the "LEVEL" we are very proud
of.
